Having trouble accessing a conversation room or getting your camera/mic to work? If you or a participant is struggling to enter a conversation room in MarketScale Studio—or experiencing camera/microphone issues once inside—follow these tips for a smoother, hassle-free session.
1. Accessing the Conversation Room
Locate Your Email Invitation. All participants—both one-time guests and registered users—receive an email with a unique link to the Conversation Room.
NOTE: One-time guests must use this link to join, but registered users can log in and join directly from the card in their MarketScale feed or inbox.
Enter the Correct Email. Make sure you use the exact email address that received the invitation; only invited addresses are granted access.
Run the Pre-Session Test. Once inside, follow on-screen prompts to test your connection, camera, and microphone.
2. Preparing Your Environment
Update Your Browser. Make sure your browser is 100% up to date. We suggest Google Chrome for best performance, but any modern and updated browser should work.
Check Your Network. For stability, use an Ethernet connection if possible. If on Wi-Fi, connect to the fastest band (like 5 GHz).
Close Unnecessary Apps. Shut down extra browser tabs and streaming or communication tools (Netflix, Slack, Teams) to free bandwidth.
Disconnect From VPN. VPNs and privatized networks can cause audio/video recording issues. Disable them before joining if you can.
3. Troubleshooting Camera and Microphone
Plug In and Turn On Your Devices. Ensure your camera and mic are securely connected and any physical mute switches are off.
Check for Device Updates. Make sure your mic or camera drivers/firmware are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause unexpected issues.
Verify Your OS Recognizes the Device. Check “Device Manager” (Windows) or “System Settings” (Mac) to confirm detection.
Allow Browser Permissions: Grant camera/microphone access in your browser settings.
For Chrome: Click the lock icon in the address bar and enable camera/microphone access.
For Firefox: Click the permissions icon (or go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions) to allow camera/microphone access.
For Edge: Click the lock icon or navigate to Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Camera/Microphone.
For Safari: Go to Safari > Settings for This Website and enable Camera/Microphone.
Select the Right Device in the Room. Choose the correct camera/mic within MarketScale’s device dropdown menus.
Reload or Rejoin the Session. If you change permissions, refresh the room or leave and re-enter for the updates to take effect.
4. Additional Steps
Switch Devices, Then Switch Back. If a different mic or camera works, switch back to your preferred device and see if the issue is resolved.
Log Out and Restart. Sign out of MarketScale, unplug and replug your devices, then reboot your computer and rejoin the Conversation Room.
Check for Status Indicators. A yellow or red indicator often suggests network or permission issues—adjust settings and refresh.
Refresh the Page. If experiencing any issues, a simple browser refresh can resolve temporary glitches.
5. Need More Help?
If you’ve tried all the above and are still experiencing issues, open the live chat on MarketScale and ask to speak to a support teammate. We’ll help you get connected and recording in no time!
Troubleshooting Recording Issues TL;DR
If you're experiencing problems with recording in MarketScale Studio, follow these steps to resolve common recording issues:
Refresh the Page. A simple browser refresh can often resolve temporary glitches affecting the recording functionality.
Verify Browser Compatibility. While MarketScale works with multiple browsers, Chrome provides the best recording experience. Switch to Chrome if you're experiencing recording problems.
Try Different Devices or Browsers. If refreshing and using Chrome don't solve the issue, test the recording feature on another device or browser to identify if the problem is device specific.
Follow Camera/Microphone Steps Above. Many recording issues stem from camera or microphone access problems. Review Section 3 if you haven't already addressed those potential issues.
