This guide walks you through creating a room, choosing solo or group mode, inviting guests, testing your setup, and recording clean, reliable content every time.

Setting Up a Recording Room

Log into MarketScale and click the Record Media icon. This is your starting point for any recording.

Solo or Group?

When you create a new room, you can decide whether it’s a solo recording or a group recording.

For a solo recording, don't add anyone. This is perfect for updates, explainers, messages, or quick reactions. And you can still share your room link, anyone who joins will simply claim an available seat. You can also invite participants once you're in the room.

For a group recording, you can add up to four participants as “reserved seats.” These can be fellow users (click their name and image) or external guests you add by email. Only people you list here are guaranteed access. Others can join only if seats are available.

Name Your Room

Give your room a simple, topic-based working title so you can find it later. Your recordings will pop up under this name. You can rename the room any time, as well as the recording(s) after you submit them.

Click Create Room. Once it saves your room appears under My Open Rooms just below the builder.

Sharing Room Access

Participants receive an email with their unique link. You can also use Copy invite link from the room card.

Tips & Tricks

  • Always drop the room link into a calendar invite to keep guests organized.

  • Existing users can join through the link, or log in to MarketScale and find the room in their feed and inbox.

  • External guests can ONLY enter via their link. If someone loses their link, any user can re-copy it from the room card.

  • Emails must be added at setup to reserve access to the room. You can edit the guest list anytime by opening the room card menu (ellipsis in the top right) and selecting Edit room.

  • Seats are limited to four participants. If you didn’t reserve a seat for a guest, they can only join if an open one still exists.

Testing Your Setup Before Entering the Room

Once you Enter Room, you'll do a quick tech test to make sure your camera, mic, browser, and connection are ready for recording. Make sure you've chosen the right camera and microphone from the menus.

Click Test now and wait a few seconds.

MarketScale checks five things to make sure you're set up for a great recording:

  1. Microphone connection - can we hear you?

  2. Camera connection - can we see you?

  3. Network connection - do you have fast, stable internet?

  4. WebRTC connectivity - is your browser equipped for real-time recording?

  5. Web browser compatibility - does your browser support all features?

Passing or Fixing Issues

  • If everything checks out you'll get green icons and you can click Enter room.

  • If something needs attention, it’ll show in yellow so you can fix it and run the test again.

  • If any item appears red, you have to fix it before you can enter, otherwise your recording won’t work.

Recording in a Record Media Room

Once you're in the recording room, starting and stoping the recording couldn't be simpler.

Click Start and wait a few seconds. Once you see the timer start counting, you're rolling.

When you're finished, click Submit and wait a few more seconds. When you see the red Start button again, you know your recording is saved and is waiting for you in the Inbox for approval.

Tips & Tricks

  • You can start and stop unlimited times, and each segment becomes its own media card in the inbox and the feed.

  • Best practice: don’t stop recording until you’re totally done. Small mistakes are easily edited out.

  • Waiting on a participant? Use the Share link to room button in the top middle of the recording room to copy the room link so you can send it over messages. Remember, unless they have a reserved seat, there has to be an open seat or they'll not be able to get in.

  • Once you're in the room you can still change your Camera, Mic, and Output (speakers) if you want to change them to different devices. Just make sure to check your device settings too.

  • Use the Share feature to share your screen. Sharing screen in the recording room is just like sharing screen in a meeting.

  • You also have a private chat for side-coaching and coordination during group recordings. That way you don't have to break your flow while you're recording.

  • If you have an open spot in your room, you can click Invite participant on that slot and reserve a seat for a guest.
