How sub-brands work in Channel Brain

Sub-brands inherit the parent brand's knowledge and override only what's different. Learn how to create, tune, and manage them.

Most channels are not one brand. They are a parent with product lines, regions, or acquired brands underneath. Sub-brands let you run all of them from one Channel Brain without rebuilding the brand each time. This is for the Admin managing more than one brand in a single channel.

Inherit first, override second

A sub-brand starts by inheriting everything the parent brain knows: brand data, knowledge files, and memory. You then override only the pieces that are actually different for that sub-brand, like its own colors, its own products, or a knowledge file written specifically for it. Everything you do not override keeps flowing from the parent, so a change at the parent reaches every sub-brand that has not overridden it.

Manage sub-brands from the sidebar

Create, rename, delete, and share sub-brands from the Channel Brain sidebar. Switch into a sub-brand to edit its brand and knowledge files in its own context. Sources stay managed at the parent brand and are shared down, so you connect a tool once rather than per sub-brand.

Pro tip from the coaches: Resist the urge to override everything on a new sub-brand. The whole point is inheritance. Override the three or four things that genuinely differ and let the rest cascade from the parent. You will spend minutes setting up a sub-brand instead of hours, and updates will propagate the way you want.
