Knowledge Files are the part of your brand that a form cannot capture: your story, your people, your strategy, the rules you never break. They are short Markdown documents MarketScale reads and remembers. This is for the Admin who wants AI output that knows the brand, not just its colors.
Start with the files that matter most
Channel Brain ships with a set of recommended files, each with a clear job. You do not have to fill all of them on day one. Start with these:
identity.md and brand.md. Who you are and what the brand stands for.
products.md and services.md. What you sell, described the way you would explain it to a good prospect.
guardrails.md. The rules. What the brand never says, claims it cannot make, topics to avoid.
people.md, terminology.md, strategy.md, and the rest fill in over time.
Each file shows a status so you always know where you stand: Active when it has content, Draft when it is empty, Missing when a recommended file has not been created yet.
Build a file from a link
You do not have to write from a blank page. Open a file and choose Build from a link, and MarketScale drafts the document from a page you point it at. You can also autofill every recommended file at once and then edit the drafts. Review what comes back. A draft from a crawl is a starting point, not the final word on your brand.
Write your own files too
The recommended set is a floor, not a ceiling. Create custom files for anything your brand needs MarketScale to know, from campaign playbooks to a house style guide. If it shapes how your content should sound or look, it belongs here.
Pro tip from the coaches: Write guardrails.md as blunt instructions, not prose. "Never call the product a tool. Never promise ROI figures. Always spell the product name as one word." MarketScale follows clear rules far better than it interprets a paragraph.
Sub-brands inherit, then override
On a sub-brand, every file from the parent brain is inherited automatically and marked as such. Edit an inherited file and it becomes an override that belongs to the sub-brand, while the parent copy stays untouched. Changed your mind? Revert to parent drops the override and the sub-brand goes back to inheriting. Set the story once at the parent, and tune only what is different per sub-brand.
What to do next
Knowledge Files teach the brand. Memories keep it learning. See How Memories work in Channel Brain.
