Overview
One of the biggest reasons video projects take longer than expected is fragmented feedback — one person submits a revision, then someone else has notes, then someone else, and suddenly you're on version nine. This article explains how to collect all team feedback in one pass so your editor can turn everything around in a single cycle.
Key Concepts
Every time you click Request Revision, a full editing cycle begins. If different people on your team each trigger separate revisions, your turnaround time multiplies. The goal is one consolidated revision request that captures everything — so you get your video back fast and done right.
Step-by-Step: The Consolidated Revision Workflow
When your video comes back from editing, open it in the Media Studio proofing room and watch it in full before adding any notes.
Add your own timestamped comments as you go. Use exact time codes for changes — for example: "at 0:42, add B-roll of the Dallas skyline" or "at 1:15, remove this sentence."
Don't click Request Revision yet. Before submitting, share the proofing room link with everyone else who needs to review the video.
Copy the link from the proofing room and send it to all internal reviewers. They can open it and add their own notes directly.
Once everyone has had a chance to review and all notes are visible in the proofing room, check that everything makes sense together.
Now click Request Revision to submit the full consolidated set of feedback.
Best Practices
Collect feedback from all reviewers before submitting — not after. A quick message or meeting to align before anyone clicks Request Revision can save multiple editing cycles.
Be specific with timestamps and descriptions. Vague notes like "fix this part" make it harder for editors to know exactly what you mean. Include the time code and describe the change clearly.
If you realize you missed something after submitting, either wait for the next version and add it then, or pause the edit first, add the note, and resubmit. Don't add comments while the editor is actively working — they may not see them in time.
One consolidated revision = one turnaround cycle. Fragmented feedback multiplies your wait time.
FAQs
What if different reviewers give conflicting feedback?
Resolve disagreements before submitting. The person managing the project should make the final call on any conflicts so the editor receives one clear direction.
How do I share the proofing room with my team?
Copy the link from inside the Media Studio proofing room and send it directly to your reviewers. They can open it and add their notes.
What if someone adds a note after I've already submitted a revision?
If the editor has already started working, that late note likely won't make it into this version. Plan ahead by giving reviewers a clear deadline for feedback before you submit.
