Overview
If you've left comments in the Media Studio proofing room but haven't clicked Request Revision, your editor hasn't seen a thing. This is one of the most common reasons video projects stall. This article explains exactly how the button works and how to use it correctly every time.
Why the Button Matters
Comments in the proofing room are visible to you and your team — but editors only receive them when you officially submit via the Request Revision button. Think of it as raising your hand in a queue. Without it, the project simply doesn't move.
Step-by-Step: How to Request a Revision the Right Way
Open your video in Media Studio and go to the proofing room.
Watch the entire video before adding any comments. Don't stop partway through — you may miss something you'd want changed.
Add all of your feedback as timestamped comments. Ask yourself: is there anything else I want changed before I submit? Get it all in at once.
Once you're confident all your notes are in, click Request Revision in the top right corner (it turns hot pink when you hover over it).
A confirmation message will appear. You can return to proofing if you think of something else, or confirm and proceed.
Rate the quality of the edit on a 1–5 star scale. This rating is about the editor's performance — not whether you want further changes. If the edit was great but you want creative adjustments, rate it accordingly.
Select the reason for your revision: directions not followed, technical error, something new to add, branding misuse, or changing creative direction.
Hit Request Revision to officially submit.
Best Practices
Watch the whole video before submitting. Sending one note, getting a revision, then sending another adds days to your timeline. Get everything in one go.
Submit all changes at the same time. The editor only needs to go through your project once — consolidating feedback means a faster turnaround.
Don't confuse the star rating with your satisfaction. Rate the editor on the quality of their work, not on whether you want creative changes.
FAQs
What if I realize I forgot a note after I've already clicked Request Revision?
Once submitted, you can't add more notes to that revision cycle. Wait for the next version to come back, then add the additional feedback at that point.
Can I go back to proofing before confirming?
Yes — when the confirmation dialog appears, you can click "Return to Proofing" if you want to double-check your notes before officially submitting.
How quickly will the editor start working after I submit?
Your project re-enters the editing queue as soon as you submit. The editor who worked on it originally gets notified and picks it up.
