What to do when your edit feedback went to the wrong place

Why your edit feedback never reached the editor. Comments under the video stay internal; only timestamped proofing room comments plus Request Revisions actually reaches them. Consolidate every reviewer's feedback first, then submit once.

If you've left feedback on a video and the next cut came back with none of it addressed, you're not crazy. The feedback almost certainly went somewhere the editor never saw. There are two places to leave feedback in MarketScale; only one actually reaches the editing team. Here's how to make sure yours lands.

Pro tip: Comments under the video stay internal to your team. Timestamped comments in the proofing room are what the editor sees.

The comment section below the video stays internal

The comment field under a video is for your internal team's conversation. It looks like the place to leave feedback, but it never reaches the editor. Anything you type there stays with whoever has access to that video on your side. If your team has been discussing changes in the comments and wondering why the next cut didn't reflect them, this is why. The editor literally never saw it.

Drop timestamped comments in the proofing room instead

Open the video in the editor, scrub to the specific moment, and add a timestamped comment in the proofing room. "At 0:15 change the lower third color to blue." "At 2:42 cut to the next clip." Those comments are what travels with the edit request back to the editor. Specific timestamp, specific change, no ambiguity. Each comment is one note the editor will address on the next cut.

Consolidate all reviewers' feedback before you submit

If three people on your team need to weigh in, wait until all three have dropped their proofing-room comments before you submit. One consolidated revision request gets one round of edits. Three separate submissions get three rounds and a stretched timeline. The editor batches what's in front of them at the moment of submission, so loading every reviewer's input first means V2 lands with everyone's notes addressed at once.

Click Request Revisions with a star rating to send it back

After every reviewer has commented, click "Request Revisions" and add a star rating. That's what sends the video back to the editor's queue. The editor makes the changes, gets a QC pass from MarketScale, and the next cut comes back. Without that click, the comments sit there and nothing moves. The button is the signal that work should resume.

Try it this week

Pull up any video where the last cut missed your feedback. Open the proofing room, drop timestamped comments for each change. Get every reviewer in your team to do the same. Then click Request Revisions and submit. Watch how much closer the next cut lands now that the editor actually has the notes.
