Why don't I see the "Request Edit Now" button on my video?

If the Request Edit Now button is missing from your video in Media Studio, here's exactly why and what to do next.

Updated yesterday

Why the Button Disappears

The Request Edit Now button only appears on videos that haven't been edited yet — specifically on the original raw version. Once a video has been through an edit cycle, the button is replaced by Request Revision instead. So if you're not seeing it, the most common reasons are:

1. The video has already been edited (status: Edited or In Editing)

Once your video has been sent for editing, Request Edit Now is no longer available on that version. Depending on where things stand:

  • Status is "In Editing" — An editor is actively working on it. You'll be notified by email when the edited version is ready. At that point, open it in Media Studio and use Request Revision to send any changes.

  • Status is "Edited" — The edit is done and waiting for your review. Open Media Studio and use Request Revision to request further changes, or Mark Complete if it's ready.

2. The video is marked Complete

Once a video is marked Complete — either by you or automatically after 14 days of inactivity — neither Request Edit Now nor Request Revision will appear. The video is considered finalized.

Your options from here:

  • Contact support to reopen the video — we can unlock it so you can request further edits on the existing version.

  • Duplicate the raw media — click the ellipsis (…) menu on the media card, select Duplicate RAW Media, then open the new copy in Media Studio and click Request Edit Now. Include a note linking to the original so the editor has context.

3. You're viewing an older version

Media Studio shows multiple versions of your video in a ribbon at the top. Request Edit Now only appears on the Original version. If you're viewing an edited version, switch to Original using the version ribbon — though keep in mind, if the video has already been through editing, you'll want to use Request Revision instead.

Quick Check

Not sure what status your video is in? Open Video Status in the top left of your Studio dashboard — it shows exactly where every video stands in the editing pipeline.
