Overview
Workbench is a task management tool built into Media Studio that makes it easy for your team to assign and track project-specific tasks, without leaving the video you're working on.
Think of it as the collaboration layer for your content projects. A marketing manager can assign a task to a salesperson. A team lead can prompt a colleague to record a clip. Anyone on your team can flag an action item and make sure it's owned, dated, and prioritized - all tied directly to the relevant media.
Where to Find Workbench
Workbench lives inside Media Studio:
From your Channel Media feed, click the Media Studio button under your chosen media card.
Once inside Media Studio, look for the Workbench button on the left-hand side of the screen.
Click it to open the Workbench panel.
How to Create a Task
Inside Workbench, click New Task.
Fill out the task details:
Description - describe what needs to be done. Be specific so the assignee knows exactly what's expected. For example: "Record a 30-second clip introducing this product" or "Review this draft and flag any brand inconsistencies."
Assign to - select the teammate responsible for completing the task.
Start date - when the task should begin.
Due date - when the task needs to be completed.
Priority - set the urgency level so your team knows what to tackle first.
Click Create Task. The assignee will receive an email notification with the task details.
You can create as many tasks as needed for a single project.
What to Use Workbench For
Workbench is built for tasks that belong to a specific project - action items your team needs to complete in order to move a video or campaign forward. Good examples include:
Prompting a salesperson or subject matter expert to record a UGC clip
Asking a teammate to review a video and flag feedback before it moves forward
Assigning someone to gather supplementary assets like images or copy for a project
Delegating a content-related follow-up to a specific person on the team
Workbench is not for submitting videos for editing. If you need to send content to the MarketScale editing team, use the Request Edit Now button inside Media Studio. Uploading or attaching videos through Workbench is not a supported workflow and should be avoided.
Best Practices
Write clear, actionable descriptions. Include any relevant context upfront; the more specific, the less back-and-forth you'll need.
Assign to one person. Every task should have a single clear owner so nothing falls through the cracks.
Set due dates on every task. A deadline keeps the project timeline moving and gives assignees something concrete to work toward.
Use priority levels intentionally. Reserve high priority for genuinely time-sensitive items so the signal stays meaningful.
