How Do I Upload Files for a Video That Aren't Video, Images, or Audio?

Updated this week

When you’re building a video project, your core uploads—video and audio—form the foundation of the story. Yet the key to achieving a polished, on-brand, and effective final product often lies in the context and direction editors gain through additional files.

Media Studio

When you’re reviewing a video directly within Proofing in Media Studio, you can leave timestamped comments tied to specific moments in the timeline. In addition to written notes, the comment box also allows you to attach files. (This is especially useful when you want to provide a brand guideline PDF to clarify logo or font usage.)

By attaching files directly within the comment box, you ensure editors have everything they need right at the moment your feedback applies.

Tasks

The Tasks feature in Media Studio is designed to keep projects organized and accountable. With Tasks, you can assign specific responsibilities to teammates or even MarketScale editors, set due dates, and add detailed instructions. This ensures that every part of the editing and production process has clear ownership and timelines.

In addition to written instructions, Tasks also supports file attachments, which can give essential context to whoever is completing the work. (For example, assigning a task to build custom graphics could include an attached PDF of your brand standards.)

Saved Order

A Saved Order in Media Studio preserves your editing preferences, capturing your brand’s style so you can apply it consistently across future projects. Basically, you don’t have to start from scratch every time you request a new edit!

Instead of re-explaining your expectations, you can simply apply a Saved Order with a few clicks, giving editors an immediate framework for how the video should look and feel.

But even though a Saved Order provides consistency, every project will have its own unique elements. That’s where uploading additional files becomes useful. Once you apply a Saved Order to a new edit request, you can still attach supporting assets that make sure this specific video delivers the right message.

Media Request

When creating a Media Request, you can invite colleagues, guests, or even external contributors to record or upload content directly into your workspace.

After selecting your recipients and writing prompts or questions, you’ll also see an Additional notes and direction section. This is where you can attach supporting files, such as outlines and brand guidelines.

Adding these files ensures that respondents have the context and resources they need to deliver responses that are clear, consistent, and aligned with your project goals.

Remember, uploading non-media files is about giving editors and collaborators the context they need to do their best work. Whether you’re leaving feedback in Proofing, assigning responsibilities through Tasks, or sending out a Media Request, each of these tools includes space to add additional notes and attachments.
