Folders are your workspace for organizing, finding, and acting on media in MarketScale Studio. Create nested folders, preview files in a docked inspector, search within a folder, and kick off projects, all without leaving the page.
Why Folders Matter
Folders help you keep your content organized and easy to act on:
Build courses fast: Pull clips, interviews, and slides into one simple workspace.
Run shows easily: Add every episode to one folder for quick repurposing.
Create an unlimited library: Events, B-roll, product shots, all organized and easy to surface.
Find files instantly: Search or filter by name or date. No clutter, no wasted time.
MarketScale replaces scattered tools with one scalable, self-serve hub.
Adding Media to Folders
There are several ways to add media to a folder. A file can belong to more than one folder at the same time; adding it to multiple places never creates duplicates.
Two common ways to add media:
During Upload
In the Add to folders field, type an existing folder name or type a new one and press Enter.
A file can be added to multiple folders at the same time.
Finish your Upload, and your asset is live and in the right place.
From a media card
Find the content on your home feed or inbox.
Click Add to folder + on the media card.
Pick a folder (or make a new one) and press Enter.
Pro tip: To remove a file from a folder, use the three-dot menu on the media card and choose Remove from Folder. Your media stays safe in Studio.
Drag to upload: Drop files from your computer directly onto a folder on the Folders page. Files go through the full pipeline (thumbnail processing, AI summary, transcription, and the approval inbox) and land in that folder automatically.
The Folders Page
Open Folders from the navigation bar. The page is divided into two tabs:
Channel folders: all folders across your organization.
My folders: folders you've personally created.
Select any tile to preview all the content in that folder.
Each folder card shows a preview mosaic of recent content, item count, and last activity. Use the search bar to find a folder by name, or the Sort dropdown to reorder by date created, last modified, or name.
Favorites, Rename, Combine, Delete
These features will help you stay organized:
Bookmark a Folder → Click the bookmark icon on any folder card to add it to Favorites, pinned at the top of the Folders page.
Rename → Click the three dots on any folder tile and choose Rename, or rename inline directly inside a folder. The updated name reflects everywhere instantly.
Combine → Select multiple folders and click Combine to consolidate them. Clickable chips let you preview the exact files, projects, and subfolders inside each before you commit. Nothing is lost.
Delete → Deleting a folder never deletes your media. A guided flow asks where loose media and any subfolders should go: keep them in your Feed, move them, or promote them up a level.
Folders are easy to reorganize at any time. Your media is always safe.
Starting a Project from a Folder
Inside a folder, you can cherry-pick exactly the files or clips you want before sending to editing:
Use the checkboxes to select files or individual clips, including specific clips from within a multi-file upload.
Your selection appears in the collector bar at the bottom of the page.
Click Create Project in the collector.
Fill out the project form and submit. Your selected media launches into Media Studio for editing and writing.
Subfolders
Nest folders inside folders to organize by campaign, event, series, or topic. Use Create Subfolder inside any folder to add a new level. Breadcrumb navigation keeps you oriented as you drill down, and a single click takes you back instantly.
You can also drag a media file onto an empty area inside a folder to create a subfolder and file the asset in one step.
The Media Inspector
Click any file or project inside a folder to open the Media Inspector, a panel that docks to the right side of the page. You stay in the folder view while you:
Preview the file
Read and search the transcript: click any line to jump to that moment in the video
Leave comments
View collaborators and activity
Use the ← / → arrow keys to navigate between items without closing the inspector.
Selecting Across Folders
The collector bar at the bottom of the page lets you build a working set from multiple folders before acting. It stays with you as you navigate.
Add to Folder: move your selection into an existing or new folder.
Create Project: send your selection into Media Studio.
Download: download selected files directly.
If a file appears in both a parent folder and a subfolder, the collector counts it only once and will note the de-duplication.
Pro Tips for Folder Mastery
Name It Right: Short, clear names win. Examples:
Q3_Product_LaunchTrade_Show_2025Social_Video_Batch
Add to Multiple Folders: If a clip fits two projects (say "Season 3 Promo" and "Holiday 2025") add it to both. No duplicates created. When in doubt, more folders is better.
Bookmark Your Daily Drivers: Got a folder you open every day? Bookmark it. It stays at the top.
Clean House Monthly: Combine or delete one-off folders. Rename confusing ones. Keep the grid lean.
Archive Old Stuff: Rename stale folders to include “_ARCHIVE” so they don’t clutter your active view.
