Why aren't my folders showing up in MarketScale?

If folders aren't appearing in MarketScale, it's usually because folders work like tags, content has to be explicitly tagged to a folder for it to exist. Here are the most common reasons and how to fix them.

The Short Version

Folders in MarketScale are real containers — you can create them, nest them, and organize media inside them. A file can belong to more than one folder at the same time. If a folder you expected isn't showing up, one of the reasons below is almost always why.

For the full walkthrough on creating, tagging, and managing folders, see How to Use Folders on MarketScale.

Where to Look for Folders

Click the folder icon in the top right corner of MarketScale

Or use your profile dropdown → Folders

Inside the Folders page, you'll see two tabs and a Favorites section:

  • Favorites: folders you've bookmarked, pinned at the top.

  • Channel folders: all folders across your organization.

  • My folders: folders you've personally created.

Use the search bar at the top of the page to filter folders by name, or the Sort dropdown to reorder by date created, name (A–Z or Z–A), or last modified.

Why a Folder May Not Appear

1. The folder hasn't been created yet

Folders are created explicitly: from the Folders page using Create Folder, via the folder field during upload, or by clicking Add to Folder + on any media card. If no one has created it yet, it won't appear.

Fix: Create the folder from the Folders page, or click Add to Folder + on any media card, type a new folder name, and press Enter.

2. The folder was deleted

Deleting a folder removes the grouping but never deletes your media. Files stay safe in your Feed and search results. The folder simply no longer appears on the Folders page.

Fix: Re-tag the relevant media to a new folder with the same name, or to an existing folder.

3. The folder was merged into another

Merging is permanent. When folders are merged, the original folders are removed and all their media moves into the new merged folder.

Fix: Search for the folder it was likely merged into, or check with your teammates. The media is still tagged, just under a different folder name now.

4. Permissions

All authenticated members of your organization can view folders. If you're signed in and still can't see folders your teammates can, contact your organization administrator to confirm your access.

Quick Tip

A file can live in more than one folder at the same time. If content seems missing from a folder, check whether it was actually added to that folder — it may be in a different one, or both.
