How to Use Recorded Conversations on MarketScale

How to use Conversation Rooms on MarketScale, set up rooms, invite participants, test your gear, record your podcast or interview, and review the recordings.

Recorded conversations are your go-to solution for podcasts, video interviews, and panels, making it easy to share insights, showcase expertise, and engage your audience.

This guide covers:

  • Creating a Conversation Room

  • Inviting participants

  • Testing your setup

  • Recording and submitting conversations

  • Finding and reviewing your recordings

How to Set Up a Conversation Room

Once you're logged in, click the Conversations icon to get started. Give your room a title, something topical works best, since it'll be easier to find later.

(This title is only for internal use. You can choose a final title later.)

Next, add up to four people. Guests can be from your Channel, or external contacts you invite by email. If someone isn't a MarketScale user yet, just type their full email and hit Enter to lock it in.

When you're ready, click Create Room. Your new room appears in the Open Rooms list, and guests automatically get an invite link.

Testing Before You Join

Everyone you invite gets an email with the room link. You'll also see a Copy invite link button on the room card so you can quickly resend if someone can't find it.

When it's time to join, just click Enter room from the card in your feed.

Pro tip: Share the room link in a calendar invite so your guests always have it handy. External guests (those without a Channel login) can only join through the link or the email invite, they can't access the room any other way.

If someone misplaces their invite or can't find it in their spam folder, no problem, anyone in your Channel can copy the link from the room card and resend. Internal users can simply log into MarketScale, click the Conversations icon, and open the room from their feed.

For security, only people whose email addresses were added when the room was created can access it.

Need to make changes, like adding or removing users or external guests? Edit the room any time. Click the ellipsis icon in the top-right corner of the room card and select Edit Room.

Before you join, MarketScale runs a quick test (about 15–30 seconds) to check your internet, camera, and microphone. You'll also pick which mic and camera to use.

If everything looks good, hit Enter room and you're in. If not, the system will tell you what to fix and give you another shot.

Recording Your Conversation

Once you enter the room, you'll see a clean, simple recording interface. Choose your camera and microphone, and use the private chat to coordinate with your guests, those chats aren't saved, so you can toss quick prompts or directions without interrupting the flow.

The main control is the Start recording button at the bottom. Click it, after a 10-second countdown, recording begins.

When you're finished, click Submit and keep all participants in the room until the upload completes. (Depending on length, this can take a few minutes. You'll get a confirmation once the recording submits successfully.)

You can start and stop recording as many times as you want. Each segment creates a separate media card in your feed, and you'll see a live record of all recordings in the chat panel on the right.

Best practice: Don't stop recording until you're fully done. Small mistakes, like a guest misspeaking, can always be edited out later.

Finding and Reviewing Your Recordings

Once a podcast is recorded, it automatically appears in your Inbox. From there, approve or decline the submission before it moves forward.

When you first open a recording in the Inbox, you'll see an audio preview rather than a full video file. This is by design, the preview gives you a quick way to review the conversation without waiting for large video files to process. All video files are fully downloadable once available, and editors always have access to them.

The audio preview also makes collaboration easy: listen back, confirm the quality, and leave comments in the Proofing Room if needed.

Wrapping Up

With Conversation Rooms, recording and managing podcasts, interviews, and panels is simple from start to finish. From setting up your room and inviting participants to recording, reviewing, and collaborating with your team, the process is seamless and intuitive.

Whether you're capturing thought leadership, sharing insights, or hosting meaningful conversations, you have everything you need to bring them to life and share them with your audience.
