User's Business Title vs. MarketScale Platform Role

Clarifies the difference between a user's business/job title and their MarketScale platform role (User Type), which controls their access level.

MarketScale user profiles display two different types of titles that are easy to confuse:

Business Title (Job Title)

This is the user's professional or company title, such as "VIP - Growth," "Director of Marketing," or "Sales Manager." It describes their role at their company and has no effect on their MarketScale permissions or access level.

MarketScale Platform Role (User Type)

This is the field that controls what a user can see and do in MarketScale. The platform roles include:

  • Admin: Full access to all features, settings, and user management.

  • Member: Full access to content, coaching, commenting, and standard platform features.

  • VIP Guest: Limited access. Cannot view the Coaching feed or interact with coaching-specific features like "Got It."

How to check a user's platform role

To confirm a user's actual access level:

  1. Go to your profile icon and select Admin then Users.

  2. Find the user in the list.

  3. Click the pencil icon to view their profile.

  4. Look at the User Type field. This is their platform role.

Example: A user with the business title "VIP - Growth" and the User Type "Member" has full Member access. The word "VIP" in their business title does not make them a VIP Guest in MarketScale.
