A user's business title and their MarketScale platform role are completely separate. One is a job-title label. The other controls what they can actually do in Studio.
Business title (job title)
Examples: VIP — Growth, Senior Producer, Account Executive, Marketing Director
Purely informational — used for display and directory lookups
Zero effect on MarketScale permissions or capabilities
Platform role (User Type)
This is what controls access. There are three:
Admin — full workspace control, user management
Member — full content creation, editing, approvals
VIP Guest — limited, restricted access (read-mostly, constrained feeds)
How to check a user's platform role
Click the Profile icon in the top-right corner.
Go to Admin Actions > Users.
Find the user and click the pencil icon.
Look at the User Type field — that's the real platform role.
Example of the confusion
A user with the business title "VIP — Growth" and User Type Member has full Member access. The word "VIP" in their business title does not make them a VIP Guest. Always check the User Type field to confirm actual permissions.
Need to change someone's platform role?
An Admin can update User Type from the same edit screen. Changes take effect immediately after save.
