How to Use Open Link Requests

A complete guide to Open Link requests in MarketScale Studio — how to create them, share them, and what new recipients experience when they click your link.

Updated today

Open Link Media Requests are a crowdsourcing tool in Studio. They let you gather content from anyone — even people outside your known network — by sharing a unique link.

Why Use Open Link Requests?

Open Links are perfect for large-scale community engagement — when you want to invite a wide range of voices and don't know exactly who'll respond.

MarketScale partners typically use Open Links for:

  • Customer testimonials and feedback

  • Collecting media at conferences, tradeshows, and exhibitions

  • Large-scale company culture initiatives

  • Education and training

  • Research and surveys

(If you're sending a request to specific colleagues or guests, use the standard Media Request instead.)

How to Create an Open Link

Step 1 — Open the Request tool

From your home feed, open the Request tool from the menu.

Step 2 — Click Create

In the Request tool, click the Create button in the top-right corner.

Step 3 — Build your request

Write your prompt (or pick a template), add the request to a folder, and fill in any other details you want.

Step 4 — Click Finish

When you're done building the request, click Finish. The button is at the top and bottom of the page — either one works.

Step 5 — Choose how to collect responses

Studio will ask how you want to collect responses. Choose the option to generate a shareable link.

Step 6 — Copy and share your link

Studio creates the link. Copy it and send it to anyone you want to contribute — colleagues, customers, event attendees, anyone.

Tip: The shareable-link option is on the response-collection step at the end — not at the beginning of the request. If you don't see it, click Finish first and the option will appear.

To monitor responses or grab the link again later, click the Request button again. It opens to a page showing all of your requests, sorted into In Progress, Draft, Completed, and Templates.

To see what's come in, click the View Responses button on your request card.

What Does an Open Link Look Like to a New Recipient?

Most people who receive an Open Link won't already have a MarketScale account — that's the whole point of the tool. The flow is built so they can contribute as a guest in just a few taps. Here's what they'll see.

Step 1 — The landing page

When someone clicks your link, they land on a simple page with:

  • The request title and description

  • Who created it (your name and team)

  • A Start Request button

A note at the bottom lets them know they're joining as a guest — and gives them the option to log in if they already have a MarketScale account.

Step 2 — Answer the prompt

After clicking Start Request, they'll see the prompt(s) you set up — along with a response field. Depending on how you built the request, they'll either type a written answer, record video or audio, or upload media.

Required questions are flagged in pink so they know what they have to fill in.

Step 3 — Enter their info and submit

Below the prompt(s), they'll fill in:

  • Email (required)

  • First name and Last name

  • Optional: Job title and Company

When they hit Submit, they're agreeing to MarketScale's Terms and Conditions — there's no separate accept screen. Their response lands in your View Responses view immediately.

The whole experience is quick and intuitive: within a few taps your recipient is contributing — no account creation, no login, no friction.
