Using the Teleprompter in the Recording Room

Learn how to use the built-in teleprompter in MarketScale's Recording Room to add a script, adjust font size, window size, and scroll speed for a smoother, more confident recording.

Updated today

The Recording Room has a built-in teleprompter so you can keep your script right in front of you while you record — no second screen or sticky notes needed. This guide walks you through opening it, adding your script, and adjusting the settings so it works at your pace.

Opening the Teleprompter

Once you're inside the Recording Room, look for the teleprompter icon (the document/lines icon) on the far right of the bottom toolbar — next to the Share button. Click it to open the teleprompter.

The teleprompter opens as a banner overlay at the top of your recording room, sitting just above your camera feeds. You'll see a small X badge appear on the toolbar icon to let you know the teleprompter is active.

To close the teleprompter, click the X in the top right corner of the teleprompter bar, or click the teleprompter icon in the toolbar again.

Adding Your Script

Click inside the teleprompter text area and type or paste your script directly. Once your script is loaded, click the Play button (▶) in the teleprompter toolbar to start scrolling.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use bullet points or short phrases instead of a word-for-word script. This helps you sound more natural and conversational on camera rather than reading line by line.

  • For interviews or panels, paste your questions into the teleprompter so they're always visible without looking away from the camera.

  • Write the way you speak — simple, direct language is easier to read quickly and sounds better on camera.

Adjusting the Teleprompter Settings

The teleprompter toolbar gives you three ways to customize your experience:

  • Font size — Use the A A A controls on the left side of the teleprompter bar to cycle through small, medium, and large text. A larger font means less eye movement, which helps you stay looking at the camera.

  • Scroll speed — Use the slider in the center of the teleprompter toolbar to adjust how fast your script scrolls. Drag it left to slow down, right to speed up. Slower is usually better — most people speak faster on camera than they expect.

  • Fullscreen mode — Click the fullscreen icon (the expand arrows) to make the teleprompter larger and easier to read.

Tips & Tricks

  • Do a quick run-through before you hit Start to dial in your scroll speed. It's worth the extra minute.

  • If you find yourself rushing to keep up, slow the scroll speed down. You can pause mid-recording and adjust.
