Why aren't my folders showing up in MarketScale Studio?

If folders aren't appearing in MarketScale Studio, it's usually because folders work like tags — content has to be explicitly tagged to a folder for it to exist. Here are the most common reasons and how to fix them.

The Short Version

Folders in MarketScale Studio work like tags, not traditional storage containers. A folder only appears once at least one piece of media has been explicitly tagged to it. If a folder you expected to see isn't there, something below is almost always the cause.

For the full walkthrough on creating, tagging, and managing folders, see How to Use Folders on MarketScale.

Where to Look for Folders

Click the folder icon in the top right corner of Studio (or use your profile dropdown → Folders) to open the Folders page. You'll see two sections:

  • Favorites — folders you've starred, pinned at the top.

  • Channel folders — every folder belonging to your organization.

Use the search bar at the top of the page to filter folders by name, or the Sort dropdown to reorder by date created, name (A–Z or Z–A), or last modified.

Why a Folder May Not Appear

1. No content has been tagged to it

Folders work like hashtags — a folder doesn't exist on its own until at least one video has been tagged to it. If nothing has been added via the Add to Folder button on a media card (or during upload), the folder simply won't appear.

Fix: Find the media you want grouped, click Add to Folder + on the media card, and either pick an existing folder or type a new name and press Enter to create it.

2. The folder was deleted

Deleting a folder removes the grouping but does not delete the underlying media — your files are still safe in Media Studio. The folder just won't show up in your Folders page anymore.

Fix: Re-tag the relevant media to a new folder with the same name, or to an existing folder.

3. The folder was merged into another

Merging is permanent. When folders are merged, the original folders are removed and all their media moves into the new merged folder.

Fix: Search for the folder it was likely merged into, or check with your teammates. The media is still tagged — just under a different folder name now.

4. Permissions

All authenticated members of your organization can view folders. If you're signed in and still can't see folders your teammates can, contact your organization administrator to confirm your access.

Quick Tip

Because folders are tags, a single video can appear in multiple folders at once. If content seems missing from a folder, check whether it was actually tagged to the folder you're looking in — it may live in a different one (or both).
